Ceramic columns at Matakana, New Zealand

Because we use the extruder as the 'work horse' process of our production, we are always looking for different ways to use the basic tubes.  Many years ago Ant Morris experimented with these cylinders, placing a number in the wetlands bordering the pottery, alongside the Matakana River. Indirectly this led to our 'Sentinels' range, which are well established as landscaping features.

We have experimented with a wide range of sizes and shapes, colours and decorative finishes and are currently looking at some more understated combinations, metallic finishes with accents of brilliant colour. The size makes these suitable individually or in clusters, or flanking an entrance way. Although always slightly 'excentric' in form, the choice of colours and detail can make them more or less traditional in feel. Essentially a humble field tile, these extruded tubes offer plenty of creative opportunity.
