‘Our Place’ is an image captured by Rowan Halkyard-Mills, our showroom manager for the past 11+ years, and the familiar, welcoming face many of you will recognise from your visits. Over the years, Rowan built a special connection with you all - sharing stories, helping people choose pieces, and quietly becoming part of many Morris & James experiences - which made this contribution feel especially fitting to all of us.
The image is special for two reasons. Firstly, the glaze itself is notoriously difficult to photograph up close. Light, reflection, and colour can shift dramatically - yet here, everything looks harmonious. The lighting is just right, the colour is rich and true, and you can see multiple tones interacting beautifully within the reflection.
Secondly, this image speaks directly to Rowan’s experience. After years of connecting with customers and seeing which pieces people were drawn to, this one felt right - a quiet reflection of what resonated with many. It felt special to all of us.
