Submission Terms & Conditions
These terms are here to make sure everyone understands how stories and images may be used in the Morris & James coffee table book ‘The Clay That Connects Us’, and to keep the process fair and transparent.
By submitting a story and/or images, you agree to the following.
1. Your Story & Images
You confirm that your story is your own original writing, and that any images you submit were taken by you and are yours to share.
2. How Your Submission May Be Used
You keep the copyright to your story and images.
By submitting content, you give Morris & James permission to use your story and/or images for the purpose of producing, publishing, and promoting the Morris & James book, in both print and digital formats.
This includes the ability to:
- make small edits for clarity, length, or layout
- publish your story in full or in part
- use short excerpts from your submission
- reproduce submitted images in the book and related promotional material
3. Editing & Selection
All submissions are carefully reviewed and curated.
We may make minor edits to ensure consistency and readability, but we won’t change the meaning of your story.
Due to space and editorial considerations, we may not be able to include every submission. Submitting a story does not guarantee publication.
4. Naming & Attribution
Unless you request otherwise, your name will appear alongside your story as provided.
If you would prefer to use a pseudonym, please indicate this on the form at the time of your submission.
5. Image Guidelines
If you submit images, please note:
- Images must show only Morris & James pottery or displays
- Images must not include people or identifiable individuals
- Images must not include original artworks or third-party artwork
You confirm that any images submitted were taken by you and are not the work of a professional photographer. Images subject to third-party copyright or licensing restrictions cannot be accepted.
We’re unable to use images that require model releases or additional permissions.
6. Commercial Publication
The book will be a commercial publication available for sale.
Stories and images are contributed voluntarily, and no payment or royalties will be provided for published content.
7. Withdrawing a Submission
If you change your mind, please contact us as soon as possible.
Once editorial work has begun, we may not be able to remove submissions already in production.
8. Respectful Content
Please ensure your submission is respectful, accurate, and does not include defamatory, offensive, or unlawful material.
9. Privacy
Any personal information collected through the submission form will be handled in line with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 and used only for the purposes of managing submissions and publishing the book.

- Submissions are open to individuals 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
