Breakages & Repairs.

Accidents happen. With the pottery closed there are no replacements, so a good repair matters more than ever. Here is what we would do for a break, a chip, and when it is worth calling in a professional.

A broken panel

You can glue the break with epoxy or ceramic glue. We would use either West System or Araldite.

To strengthen the repair, lay a couple of strips of fibreglass on the back, across the length of the crack, using the epoxy with the fibreglass.

Carefully clean up any excess on the front with a craft knife and acetone.

Chips

For minor chips, a tip from the studio: find a nail polish that matches the glaze and use it to cover the chip. It is quick, cheap and surprisingly hard to spot.

Professional repairs

For a highly professional finish and result, we recommend Wrightway Studios. Many customers go this way, particularly when insurance is an option.
