Terms of Use.
The conditions on which we share this site with you.
These terms apply to the Morris & James website, to anything you submit to us through it, and to Mail Club purchases. By using the site you accept them.
Who we are
Morris & James Matakana Limited, 42 Victoria Street, Warkworth, Auckland 0910, New Zealand. Contact marketing@morrisandjames.co.nz.
The pottery has closed
The Morris & James pottery in Matakana closed in November 2025. This website is a record of its work and a home for the community that grew around it.
Using this website
You may use this site for your own personal purposes. You may not copy, republish or use its content commercially without our written permission. The words, photographs, illustrations, logos, marks and design on this site belong to Morris & James or are used with the permission of the people who own them.
We aim to keep the site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and details may change without notice.
The catalogue and reference information
The catalogue, glaze palette, pot shapes and guides on this site are for reference only. Nothing in the catalogue is for sale. Prices shown are the last retail prices when the pottery closed, in New Zealand dollars, and are not valuations or a guide to what a piece is worth today.
Help identifying a piece is given in good faith as our best opinion from photographs. It is not a guarantee of authenticity, age or value.
Buying and selling between collectors
The Buy & Sell Group on Facebook and any other marketplace are run on platforms we do not control. Any sale is between buyer and seller. We are not a party to it and are not responsible for the condition, description, delivery or payment of any piece.
Your submissions
When you send us a piece, story, photo or enquiry through our submission form or by email, you confirm that it is yours to share, and that anyone identifiable in a photo is happy for it to be shared.
Where you tick the permission box, you give Morris & James a free, non-exclusive, ongoing permission to publish your submission, including any photos, on this website, on social media, in the Mail Club and on any other Morris & James platform. You keep ownership of your work. We may edit stories lightly for length, clarity and style, and crop or resize photos to fit the layout, without changing the meaning of your story. We will credit you by name or by the alias you give us.
We choose what to publish and are not obliged to publish every submission. Some submissions may be kept as exclusive print content for Mail Club members. If you would like something you sent taken down from the website, email us and we will remove it. Printed editions that have already been posted cannot be recalled.
Editorial decisions are ours. We decide whether, when and where a submission appears: on this website, on social media, in a Mail Club edition, or in more than one of these. Ticking the Mail Club box tells us you are happy for your submission to be considered for print. It does not guarantee that it will be printed, or in which edition. A submission we keep exclusively for print may not appear on the website or social media. We may also feature it alongside other submissions, or hold it for a later edition.
The Mail Club
The Mail Club is a quarterly printed publication. A Mail Club purchase covers four editions, released over 12 months and posted to the address you give us. It does not renew automatically. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.
The first year of the Mail Club, starting with the Summer Edition, goes ahead once 100 annual memberships have been sold by 11.59pm NZDT on Sunday 15 November 2026. Single editions do not count towards this number. If we reach 100 members by then, the Summer Edition goes to print and each membership covers four editions, starting with the Summer Edition. If we do not, the Mail Club will not go ahead this year. We will email every member by Wednesday 18 November 2026 and refund the full amount paid, including any postage, to the original payment method within 10 working days. We may decide to go ahead with fewer than 100 members. If we do, your membership and the four editions stand as described.
After 15 November 2026 you can join at any time. Each edition has a sign-up date, and a new membership starts with the next edition after you join. Sign-up and posting dates are on the Mail Club page.
Editions are paid for in advance. Posting dates are estimates. If we have to delay or change an edition, we will let you know. If we are unable to deliver the issues you have paid for, we will refund you for the editions not delivered.
Each edition is a limited print run and is not reprinted. Please keep your postal address up to date with us. We are not responsible for editions lost because of an incorrect address, though we will always try to help. If an edition arrives damaged, contact us and we will replace it while stock lasts, or refund it.
You can cancel a Mail Club purchase by emailing us. Editions already printed or posted are not refundable, and any refund for editions not yet printed is at our discretion, except where the law requires otherwise.

Where you acquire goods or services from us for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, and sections 9, 12A and 13 of the Fair Trading Act are excluded to the extent permitted by law.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including any loss arising from reliance on reference information on this site. Our total liability in connection with any order or Mail Club purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
